California Here I Come: 5 TV Interviews Scheduled When I Return to the Scene of My Many "Sugar Crimes"

Next week, I'll be giving 5 TV interviews while back in California being thankful with my family and friends.

This will be a sweet visit for me, because I'm returning -- nearly 10 years later -- to the scenes of my many sugar crimes, so to speak. You see, it was back in 1998, while a freelance entertainment reporter living in Los Angeles, I was first forced to recognize and acknowledge my sugar shock. I even reveal my embarrassing story in Chapter 1 of my book SUGAR SHOCK!)

Here are some details about my upcoming TV appearances.

Michaela_pereira_11304203

Monday, Nov. 19, in Los Angeles:

First, at 9:20 a.m., I'll be on the KTLA Morning Show, the highest rated locally produced morning program in the country.

This is sure to be a fun, provocative, eye-opening five-minute segment, in which I'll chat with the show's co-anchor Michaela Pereira and entertainment reporter Sam Rubin.

Sam_rubin_2947458_3I've been alerted that I may be given an opportunity to joke a bit with Sam, because he's reportedly quite keen on sugar, as I once was. (As you may already know, I love poking fun of myself and my bitter days in L.A. when I lived in a sugar daze because of all the red licorice I over-consumed, which you can see enacted in this cartoon. I also mock myself for making a boyfriend bid me bye-bye because of my unsavory, post-sugar behavior.)

Of course, while on the KTLA Morning show, I'm show compassion and kindness to Sam. I'll even happily give him some sugar-liberation coaching. (If it's appropriate, I may playfully ask him to accept the Stop Sugar Shock Challenge for three weeks.)

Anyhow, during my appearance on the KTLA Morning Show, I'll discuss how you can have a tantalizing Thanksgiving without having to go into sugar shock by gobbling such concoctions as candied yams, cranberry sauce and apple pie.

Instead, I'll present three tasty, beautifully presented, sugar-free alternatives:

  • Sweet Potato Heaven
  • Cranberry-Walnut Relish and
  • Spiced Baked Apple

Pamela_morgan_photos_119The recipes for these three scrumptious sugar-free dishes -- which I'll post shortly -- were specially created for me by chef Pamela Morgan, who is the culinary consultant for the Neiman Marcus Food Catalogue.

Pamela -- who is a good friend of a mutual friend (my amazing acupuncturist) -- formerly served as president of FLAVORS Catering, a New York catering firm. Her clients included a who's who of influential people and companies such as Martha Stewart Living, CBS Television, Versace, HBO, President Clinton/National Democratic Committee, W Magazine, Food Network Television and Banana Republic.

After chatting with the KTLA Morning Show's Michaela Pereira and Sam Rubin about the three tasty, sugar-free Thanksgiving dishes, I'll offer 5 pointers to stop sugar shock and have a more savory holiday. I'll post these tips here after my appearance on the KTLA Morning Show on Nov. 19.

Lori_corbin_kabc_200_loricorbin_3After my KTLA Morning Show apperance, I'll head over to KABC-TV Los Angeles, where I'll be interviewed by acclaimed nutrition and fitness reporter Lori Corbin for a taped segment. Lori's stories appear on the 6 am, 11 am and evening newscasts.

Lori is known for her fun "Food Felonies," "Food Facts" and "Food Finds." These are quick, easy-to-digest nutrition bites. (Hmm. I may have some additional ideas for her.)

Tuesday, Nov. 20, in San Diego:

Early Tuesday morning, at 6:15 a.m., I will appear on San Diego News This Morning on NBC 7/39, to chat again about how to stop sugar shock and bring on holiday sweetness.

Wednesday, Nov. 21, in San Francisco:

My next appearance will be on NBC Bay Area Today, a show that airs in San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland.

Finally, after Thanksgiving and fun times with my family, I'll head back to San Diego for my final TV appearance of the week.

Saturday, Nov. 24, in San Diego:

Last but not least, I'll appear as a live guest at 7:50 am on Fox in the Morning Weekends.

Remember to check back here soon for:

  • My five tips to have a Tasty Thanksgiving and
  • Pamela Morgan's three, tasty sugar-free recipes: Sweet Potato Heaven, Cranberry-Walnut Relish and Spiced Baked Apple
