Zap Those Zits With a Low-Sugar Diet
Note from Connie: It never ceases to amaze me how much research continues to come out, linking quickie carbs with one health problem or condition after another. Jennifer Moore tells you about yet another such study.
Eating a low-glycemic diet -- meaning one rich in whole grains, fruits, and lean meats instead of processed foods and carbs -- may help clear up a person's complexion, according to a new study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Young men aged 15 to 25 with mild to moderate acne who cut culprit
carbs for three months found their skin was much clearer than did those
who stuck to a more typical, high glycemic load diet.
The low GI diet also did a far better job of getting rid of unsightly pimples than acne cream, according to Neil Mann, Ph.D., the study's lead author.
What's more, those who cut back on the sugar and quickie carbs were a lot thinner after three months, too.
Incidentally, Connie quotes Dr. Mann in her book SUGAR SHOCK!
