Slow Food: What Is It? Learn On Stop SUGAR SHOCK! Radio Show

Erikalesser11_06If you're into health and wellness, you've probably heard the phrase "slow food."
But do you really know what it is?

Today's Stop SUGAR SHOCK! Radio Show -- which you can listen to either live or afterwards -- will demystify this phrase.

What's more, it will enlighten you about this popular movement that's been touted in publications as diverse as New York Times Magazine and Mother Jones.

A quick hint: USA Today aptly observed: "Slow Food aims to be everything fast food is not."

Anyhow, my guest is Erika Lesser, the executive director of Slow Food USA.

This is, as its website describes, "a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that educates people about how their food choices affect the rest of the world."

Slow_food_nation_51f6xibjrcl__aa240 During our interview, which, I'm sure will be quite provocative, we'll talk about a number of things, including the following:

  • What is "slow food"?
  • Why should we embrace "slow" food versus "fast food"?
  • Did Erika used to be a fast-food junkie herself?
  • What is a "slow life" and why should we live one?
  • Who is Carlo Petrini, the founding father of the Slow Food Movement?
  • What is his book Slow Food Nation about?

Slow_food_logo_about_image_2 Meanwhile, Erika also will tell us:

  • How can you join the slow-food movement?
  • What are some of the exciting upcoming events planned by her organization? (In particular, we'll find out about the unprecendented public event slated for May 1 to 4, 2008 in San Francisco. Sounds darn exciting!)

Remember, you can listen to the Stop SUGAR SHOCK! Show live or afterwards, at your own convenience.
